Good afternoon team,

I thought I’d share a quick success story. It is not uncommon to have these and I am sharing this with everyone to let you realize that your efforts make an impact.

I recently visited a mill that was not previously eligible for our program due to some mixed construction. There was a significant amount of wood frame in the mill. The mill was also a bit of a maze due to additions through the years. As a result of discussions that took place with Underwriting, the Risk Assessment Team, the broker, and the insured, they realized the wood frame components were costing them dearly in their property insurance program.

The insured had some upgrades planned; significant upgrades! With the upgrading of equipment, they removed all the wood frame components from the mill and replaced them with steel. During the construction project, they removed buildings, kilns, a boiler, and installed a new drop sorter.

The result did several significant things. One, it improved their operation by improving efficiency and reducing their manufacturing costs. Two, it improved their risk profile significantly. Three, it made the location eligible for primary placement within our program. The insurance savings are absolutely huge in this case!
